1. What this site is

We Just Made This Up (operating at wejustmadethisup.com and fakescience.com) publishes user-submitted satirical, fictional "research papers." Nothing published on this site is real science, real medical or legal advice, or a genuine academic claim. See the disclaimer in the footer of every page and the banner on every paper.

2. User-generated content and your responsibility

You are solely responsible for anything you submit. By submitting a paper you represent that it does not violate any applicable law, does not defame or harass a real identifiable person, and does not contain sexual content involving minors in any form. We do not pre-screen content before automated and, where flagged, human review, and we are not responsible for user submissions beyond our moderation process described below.

We do not claim ownership of what you submit, but by submitting you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, display, and distribute it on the site for as long as it remains published.

3. Moderation

Every submission is reviewed by an automated AI moderation system against a fixed set of safety criteria, and every AI and human moderation decision is logged. Submissions can be approved, rejected, or flagged for human review. Content involving the sexual exploitation of minors is always escalated to human review regardless of the AI's confidence, and is never auto-published. Site administrators may override any AI decision at any time, and may remove or unpublish content that later turns out to violate these terms.

4. Submission rules

• No content depicting or sexualizing minors, in any form.
• No genuinely actionable instructions for violence, weapons, or illegal harm dressed up as a fake "methodology."
• No content that defames, harasses, or doxxes a real, identifiable person.
• No health, safety, or medical misinformation written to be mistaken for genuine guidance.
• Everything else is fair game for parody — the more absurd, the better.

5. No expectation of anonymity for unlawful content

Accounts are pseudonymous by design — your display name and affiliation can be invented. However, if content you submit violates applicable law (including but not limited to content depicting the sexual exploitation of minors, genuine threats of violence, or other unlawful material), we reserve the right to preserve account, submission, and technical records (including IP address and email) and to disclose them to law enforcement without further notice to you. Pseudonymity on this site is not a shield against legal process.

6. Termination

We may suspend or terminate any account and remove any content at any time, for any reason, including violation of these terms.

7. Disclaimer and liability

The site and all content are provided "as is." Nothing published is real. We are not liable for any reliance placed on any content published here — see the disclaimer repeated in the site footer and on every paper page.
